Hopefully someone knows whats going on here. Last night it was snowing and I had to drive like 40 miles home.. it was spinning the tires alot etc etc. Anyway when I got almost home it was acting like the clutch wasnt engaging... when i went to shift it was real hard to get to the next gear and downshifting just wasnt happening. This morning I went to drive it and all seemed well for about a mile then I went to take off in first and it started bucking and acted almost like I locked up the brakes and just stopped. I started it back up and tried agaiin... if i only let the clutch about half way out it would go then I could let off fully after a bit and shift through the gears and it will work.. in first and second it makes a pretty bad whining noise though. I checked the clutch fluid it seems fine.. had someone pushing the clutch while I was watching and the slave cylinder seems to be working fine.. the only thing I noticed was on the end of the slave cylinder theres a small rubber boot.. this boot is loose in there.. not sure if its supposed to be attached but its just like floating between the pin on the slave cylinder and the bracket on the tranny that it pushes. Sorry if you dont understand what im saying.. im horrible at explaining problems. Hopefully someone will understand and know this problem though. Thanks alot
BTW it is a 91 cavalier 2 dr 5 speed 4 cylinder.
Thanks for any help.
Ive gotten SOME input.. been told its either the transmission or the throwout bearing.. anyone think this is correct and which one would be closest? really need to fix this like now.. thanks for any help
Bump.. Really need to get some ideas before I tear this apart.. cant just leave it sitting torn apart while I order parts. Want to get them first.
