i need to know if a 2.2l and a 2.4l transmission the same. im about to buy a 96 z24 it has a bad tranny in it its a 5spd but i dont wanna spend alot on a transmission for it. need some help neone with ne info let me know
the trans will not bolt up, no. the transmission is the same, but has a different bell housing. and since the bell housing is an integral part of he case, you'd have to swap guts from your trans to the trans of the new one.

So if we knew that we needed the spider gears replaced a good way to go is to buy a 2.2L manual tranny and then have the mechanic pull out just those?
It's funny how much more my local junkyards charge for a 2.4L tranny vs. the 2.2L one...
