I have a 2002 Cavalier with the 4spd auto. I have a shift computer and it shifts great. I race the car in Autocross and would like the trans to shft manually from 1 to 2 and not downshift when I hit the gas coming out of a corner. Any ideas on how to set the trans up to do this?

the car has a floor-mounted shift lever, right (mine's manual)? Look down. see how it says 123DNRP (from bottom to top)? if you put it in "2" rather than "D", it should hold 2nd. I did this with my first car ('91 subaru legacy) all the time, but, then again, I blew a front pump seal 10,000mi. after I bought it (106k-116k mi.) maybe you've already tried that, and it doesn't work on the cav., but that would be my first idea.
