I took out my old axles seals on a getrag 5 speed eco. But i cant get the new ones in i tried a socket but didnt work and a pipe the size of the seal but it just bends the corners. Is there a certain way of putting this in besides the special tool gm sells for $90?
Anything solid that can completely go over the seal and clear the tranny output shafts would work. Spread a little grease around the metal body of the seal, or even motor oil. And if you haven't already, put a little tranny fluid on the seal lip, that'll keep the lip from burning up your first few miles.
