How the hell do you get the F23 tranny in the car i have been tryn to put the tranny in for over 2 hours now n still cant figure how to get it in. is there a easy way of doing this. i tried to remove the Sub fram or whatever you call it but the Bolts just wont come off. i have a Air Compressor n everything
your on the right path with the subframe. Actually the only path. An impact guna aint gonna do it. use a wrench and a cheater bar. after you crack them you can use the impact. i found out how much of a pain it was when i had to change my torque converter.
Do a search in this forum. PJ did a quick write up on cutting the subframe to make it easier to get the tranny in. It can be done without doing the cutting, but it will only go 1 way and is very hard to get it that way.
FU Tuning
on the subframe on the driver's side there's a section that overhangs and blocks the transmission from coming out easily. The radiator support goes tot his area, so be sure not to cut off where that bolts in.
but the small traingular peice on the end can be lopped off, making transmission removal and reinstallation a LOT easier.
The transmission literally fell out once i cut off this 2" of useless metal.

Thanks guys.. I got it in Late last nite.! Me and my dad had to bring the back of the tranny up first to go over the sub frame. after that it was easy install, besides gtting dirt n the Tranny bolt holes..its wierd how something so little can make things so hard!
My 02 has that tab cut off as I have put numerous transmissions in it. One of the many reasons I like the Isuzu in my 98 is that it is less bulky and I dont have to modify anything to get it out or in.
