01 Cav Auto Tran Won't Go Into Park????????

I was coming home from work today parked it try to put in park would not go.Finally got it. Anyone have this problem before and if so what was wrong . Thinking Trans. As well does anyone know if an 98 z trans would work in my 01 z?? Thanks

Try making it go into drive 3 2 1 .. i had the trouble, and thought it was the trans since i was hooking up the b&m(trying to) and i also had the shifter knob off. Mine was connected with a c clip, and it started to come out so i couldnt shift to p 3 2 or 1 but if you take the knob off its fine, i finally got the clip in the right way and everythings fine. it might just be the shift knob.
