Im currently in the progress of turbocharging my 2005 sunfire and which brand or what size transmission cooler should i get?

I looked on ebay and found Hayden 1401,1402,1403 transmission coolers, I was wondering if there is such thing is the cooler being too big?

cuz if i can get the biggest cooler then i will get the 1403, but i dont know if it will do any harm to my boost or something...

Also is Hayden a good brand? Or should i go B&M?

Won't "hurt" your boost any, but the transmission is designed to run at a certain temp, running too cool is probably not the best thing to do. I would say get a tranny temp guage, install it before you boost, get an idea of what the normal temp range is, and then boost it and see what the temp range is. Note the difference, and shop for a cooler that advertises such and such drop in temperature, and get either that or the next size larger.
In reality though, you may not even need a tranny cooler, you'd be more likely to need some sort of oil cooler. But with the Ecotec's weird oil filter setup, there may not be one available that'd work for you, short of running lines from a factory threaded oil port on the block somewhere, maybe do that, then run the return from the cooler to the turbo, then let the turbo return dump into the pan.

Nah but Greg Z has a good point there... I dont wanna wait that long and test stuff out, i just wanna know what people has... I know i dont NEED a tranny cooler, but i think just to be on the safe side, i should get one...

yup biggest 1 you can fit , and by fitting i dont mean the size of your radiator , but atleast a 12x8 or larger

and yes you need 1, and being your in hawaii you dont have to worry about the super cold temps

cooler trans fluid isnt gonna hurt the trans , like colder oil will hurt the motor

so which one does the tranny cooler cool? The tranny fluid or the tranny oil?

if you run out of room infront of the radiator , you can tuck the cooler in the wheel well infront of the tire , and cut the plastic away so it can breathe , then use 1 like this

atf is more of a hydraulic fluid , than a oil like you use for the engine

You only have tranny fluid, and not tranny oil. I also agree going with the largest you can mount. Where you live plays a big part in tranny temps (as it does with engine oil temps).

ummmmmm i actually heard that for max efficiency and life tranny temp has to be at a certain level. this is why i went with the smallest one (1401).

I live in the deep south and it gets very hot here for months.
My tranny temps never approach 200 degrees, ever.
Even after a long haul, the tranny stays in the 195 temp and takes a long time to reach that temp.
WIth the scan gauge I have by Aeroforce, have been using this to monitor the tranny temp because like most, have wanted a tranny cooler for years.
Now that I see I don't need one, won't be getting one.

the trans teacher i had at a tech school used a trans cooler that was a ac condensor , in his jeep , and he towed with it he had 400,000 miles on it when he sold it , and the trans never had to rebuild

heat is the #1 failure of auto transmissions

and ive always had good luck keeping them as cool as possible
