Without explaining a sorry story...On my way way home from work I lost my clutch. I can push the clutch in and try to force it in gear and the car will start to move but not truly in gear. I drove the car home by shutting off the car shifting it into 2ed and on my way at 25MPH. The clutch does have fluid in it and doesn't seem to leak that I can see.
Can someone please direct me to something to look for or anything?
Also; for my Mother, Can someone suggest me a good websight for a 1990 Cadaliac Deville that has everything wrong with it?
Thanks for everything!
So when the motor is off the car will go into gear fine? If so sounds like it is clutch related. I would start with bleening the clutch first, but you could have a bad pressure plate, or the bolts have lossened up. Bad TOB (Throw out Bearing). A 00+ J manual car is actually very easy to drive without a working clutch.

Thanx John. I was afraid to hear that. Just now is not the time for me to drop the trans out of this in the cold, and drive the 12 MPG truck.
Ok...Some more help please? I got the trans out. Not sure if I got it out the right way but....Its done. I unbolted the trans from the engine, pushed it to the side. Then unbolted the pressure plate and fly wheel. That allowed me to squeeze it out. So what is the proper (easy) way to to install it?
By the way...The problem is the spring in the clutch. Not the pressure plate. What is the going price of a clutch and pressure plate. Thanx again anyone!
I paid $120 for a Luk clutch from autozone for my 5-speed Grand Prix.
About when did you get your LUK clutch for $120.00?
I payed $425 for the whole clutch kit. Clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, alignment tool. To reface the flywheel was $40.00. While I was that close I replaced the rack & pinon for $160.00. New outer tie rod ends were $47.38 I twisted the return oil line going to the rack & pinion cost me $80.00. Today, I had the local dealer do a front end alignment for $53.45. I payed an experenced trans guy $35,00 for help with some running around of getting the flywheel refaced, trans seals, Borrowed a 30mm socket, and an engine suport. About 15.00 in synthetic trans fluid and power steering fluid
So the total price of all of that came up too $855.83. I hope I'm happy in the long run down the road.
This was like 2 years ago when i did the clutch in my GP and i got clutch dics, pressure plate, alignment tool, and i believe a new pilot bearing. I know i didnt get an new slave cylinder.
