the tranny in my 98z24 is hard as hell to shift into gear, its like i almost have to force it into gear and its really easy to grind gears. I installed a B&M short shifter in it thinking that would cure it but its the exact same although it now has a shorter throw. My slave cylinder was leaking a little so i replaced the whole clutch assembly while i had it apart and its still the same. i'm going to try swapping the shifter assembly with one from my parts car but i cant see that fixing it since i've already replaced all the moving parts when i installed the B&M. Could the tranny be on its way out or maybe the shift cables are bad allowing slop in the shifting? can the cables be adjusted in any way?Any ideas?
It might be the shifter cables. They are known to stretch. Starts with hard shifting (usually), and then missing gears (usually second gear). Then it will get to where you only have either the top gears, or lower gears.
