I was going to install the short shifter assembly that Drake sold me but i noticed that MY shifter has the spring on it and the one Drake sold me does not.
Can anyone tell me if i can still install the assembly or do I have to remove the shifter from the assembly and put it into mine?
Please help

The instructions i have for my old B&M for my 96' Cavy say nothing about installing a spring and i dont remember installing a spring on mine. It worked fine for me.
well, Kardain posted the manual for installing the shifter in our year models. but i'm just not sure if i can switch out the assemblies. its not a spring that comes with the b & m kit. it's just a spring that the cars come with from the factory

Reverse lockout mechanism?? I think you can leave it out but it may be a small risk if you inadvertently shift to reverse instead of 5th.
You can switch out the assemblies if its for 95-99 shifters. FAST2.4 P and I traded the whole assembly(base, shifter, even nobs lol). He mailed me his stock one from his sunfire and i mailed him my B&M from my cavy. We had different bases in our cars and the sunfire base fit perfectly in mine and vise versa. So if you have the base and everything, just slap it in.

well, i installed the short shifter and i can't get fifth gear. what's the problem? is there some way specifically to install it?? idk. help please
