Hey everyone.
I have had a B&M short throw in my car for some time now, but recently realized (for how long i have no idea) I have no reverse lights...
Has anyone else run into this problem? I am thinking it is with the reverse safety (the thing you pull up on)....If I remember correctly, it has the contact points for the reverse lights with that. Please correct me if I am wrong, or any other solutions you have.
And yes, I checked the fuse.....and the bulbs....
Thanks
The shifter has nothing to do with the lights. The switch for the lights is in the trans. If the lights aren't working it's either the bulbs or wiring, not the shifter.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

thanks for the advice...im used to my trans am where the reverse lights are contacts in the shifter....i assumed it was the same for this.
yea the no reverse light issue is a getrag tranny issue... mine did it all i did was buy a new switch when i put my new tranny in and fixed it... easy to get to also..
What if they work only sometimes? lol
same thing switch is going bad. its the reverse back up switch on the trans. behind the drivers wheel. very easy to replace.
Good to know, Im going to have to get a switch. Mine works once in awhile, I thought it had something to do with the shifter also because if I slowly eased it into position they would work.
lol mine have been out for god knows how long, anyone have a pn for the switch?
mine hasnt worked in a while, oh well. i guess the only people who care are the people who dont know im backing up, lol

I did mine on my isuzu. $8 O'Rielly's part, 7/8" (deep) socket, right under the intake tube
Get a Hayne's or Chilton manual for your car...
just pull the switch and run a tap over it so it engages farther that's what i did over 5 years ago still good today
Don't you bottom out?
- Yes I do
sorry not a tap a die sorry

hmmm, i looked up this forum because i also beleived it had something to do with the shifter. mine decides it wants to work someimes and i have a B&M short throw. and my bro just bought a short throw for his 01 and his reverse lights stopped working as well. weird... so its for sure that switch?
i think i might of worded that weird.
my reverse lights decide when they wanna work***
I'd but my money on the switch. Mine had intermittent problems and it was the switch. cheap fix.....oh and I also have a B&M shortie
It's just so weired that I started having the issues right after the shifter was put in...
But I'll have to look into replacing that...
mine are out too, doesnt bother me, just the people that dont know i want to back up lol
