Hello i have a question.
A friend of mine has a 96 cav with the 4 spd auto and the pump in the tranny locked up.
We have looked around where we live and are unable to find one in his price range.
We have unfortunatly found countles 3 spd's......figures.
How much of a pain would it be to use a 3 spd?
I figured we would have to swap axels at the least but is the wiring going to have to be swapped as well?
The car has the 2.2 engine.
im doing basically the same thing rite now,but im putting a 4 speed in a 3 speed car.i have read that you have to change the wiring and the axles.im not sure what else.the shifter linkage looks different on top of the tranny also.
i have both cars side by side.a 96 with a 4 spd and a good motor {wrecked} and a 97 with a 3 spd and a locked up motor {good body}.
i wish the had a how to,like for the 5 speed swap.oh well maybe when im done i'll make one.
dont waste your time. you would be better off swapping to a manual
