Nope.
I loved the B&M i had in my 96' cav. Nice short shifts, wasnt bad at all on my daily driver.
Here is a pic of it with the stock nob.
It is well worth it. I wish I had got one sooner. The way it feels when you shift is much more precise. You won't regret it on a daily driver. Many have described it as one of there favorite mods. Here are some pics of mine.

Wade that is a very beautiful z24.I love it.The shifter looks very nice in there.I got a question,Did you have to buy a special harness for that stereo unit?Cause I want to change my stock one.I bought and installed some speakers in my car(6x9 500 watt kenwood 5-way,and 4x6 pioneer 130 watt 2-way).And it doesn't really sound different than the stock ones.I guess its cause I don't have an amp or aftermarket radio.Let me no thanks, cody

wade did the knob come black like that because in the b & m picture on a site its silver, i like the black better thats why i ask
I think he turned that himself out of delrin? The B&M knob gets hotter than hell on a 100+ day. Have to wear a thick palmed glove.
I have an ebay short shifter, was my first mod back in 2006 and never gave a problem. Easy install best mod cheapest mod ever....next to an intake.
I used my stock shift knob since I love the leather wrapped knob.
Shifter well worth it. The B&M comes with a metel knob (silver), Wade must have bought that knob (I'm debating on that myself). B&M is well worth it. Makes shifting much better.
