So Got the new tranny in and all bolted up. Take it for a test run and 4th gear is simply not there, Every other gear is great.
Strange thins is its like it dosent exist, I can Grind it I cant "feel" the gate for it, Goingdown from second the next drop down is Reverse

No one has found it for me? This is Frustrating!
is it a new or used trans? if its used then start looking for a replacement as it probably has a bad 4th gear. they dont just disappear. If it is a new one (as in from GM) you had better find the warranty info, and if its a rebuilt its time to go back to the re builder or who ever sold it to you.

Used, Im wondering WHY is isint there. Not even grinding so im pretty sure its not a syncro.
Im thinking maybe the linkage is out of alignment? No idea I coulent get it to sift to 4th on the tranny either however.
probably on the market because it had no 4th. Open it up and take a look. If you dont mind how much did you pay for this trans?
$350, and we bought it from a family friend. I dont want to go to him with the problem untill I can figure out what it is.
Ask him why he pulled it out. $350 for a good used Isuzu is very low. The best price i could come up with for a used one in my area last year was over $1000. I could have gotten them cheaper but they had far more miles on them than mine did.
He Pulled it because its a junkyard thats what they do, the car was wrecked in the passenger rear 1/4 panel. Price was because im a friend.

Ok. That is one reason I am very leary of junkyard parts. they may look good but actualy be bad. I ended up buying a new trans from GM for my 98. Couldnt be happier with it.
i had the same thing happen but with mine (tranny with 65,000 miles on it that had a rear end collision) i had 4th for about a week. i never once took it over 3000 rpms an then onc time i down shifted as i was getting off the highway and 4th was just not there, no hole or anything.
i do not know amything about trans, but like the person who started the post was looking for, what could it be?
