Has anyone else ever had problems with there shifter not going into gear?
Sometimes when I come to a complete stop (say at a red light) and go to put the car in first, the shifter won't go into any gear. like somethings blocking it almost. But here's the weird part, if i turn the car off and shift through a couple gears without the car on, it will work fine. then i just turn the car back on and go. like nothing ever happened.
any ideas?

Typical problem with Js. My 03' hasnt done it in a while, but i found that if it wouldnt go into 1st. Just go to 2nd then 1st. Worked for me.
Either try the above trick or let off the clutch and then push it in again. I think it's something F'd up with the synchros but those 2 things always work for me.

yeah i'm seeing that it happens most often when i back out of a parking space and then immediately come to a stop sign.
usually i end up having to pull into a parking lot, then turn off the car, shift through a few gears with the car off, then it works fine. i'm gonna try the tricks named above. i just don't want this to be an everyday thing. sometimes it doesn't happen at all and the car will run flawless, it just gets really annoying.

Yeah, I've found I often have to go into 2nd before I can go into 1st.

I was once told this is just how the tranny was build. The isuzu seemed ot be the worsed about it, just go to another gear first.
