I'm new here and glad I found this forum. I drove to work today and all was fine. Parked as normal, put car in first and set e-brake. When I got back in to go home I put the car in reverse and it drove forward. I can't get into 1-4, where 5 normally is 1 and R is 2. I'm not sure what happened but I could use some help in a major way. My thoughts right now is either linkage or shift cable. I looked at the linkage but they felt like they were pretty firmly in place. How can I check shift cables? Has anyone had this experience? Help Help Help!!!

my guess would be one cable broke by the shifter. take the console out and see.
I had this happen to me.
The little ball that slides into the groove at the shifter on the tranny has probably come out. The lips on the groove got worn out on mine. You will need to replace the shifter assembly probably.
