ok, when i go to shift it from drive to park the shifter is harder than hell to move up and down. i got mean with it and its still hard as hell but drives in park. Could it posiablely be the cable or the linkage? help needed if anyone else had this problem in the past
ok all replaced, now the problem is, Park-2 work well but it will not go into 1. also you have to jam it into park to "lock" the shifter. also I no longer have a reverse lock. also when applying the brake to run the shifter down to Drive it stops at Neutral as if it were drive causing me to have to push the button to get it the rest of the way into gear.
My big Q is I see there is a place for a carter pin on the shaft no top of the tranny, does that line everything up to work correctly? It didn't have one when I replaced the cable. Or is there a way to line the linkage back up to work correctly electronically? help is greatly appreciated.....thanks in advanced
Okay, just my guess here, assuming you have the 4-speed, there is the gear selector on top of the trans, the cable ends there and there is 2-3 electrical plugs into it. It's held to the trans by two bolts. One, if not both, can be loosened and then the box can be adjusted slightly. I know after removing my trans the shifter does'nt feel as smooth, and since I never touched the shifter itself I'm sure this being misadjusted is the problem. I hav'nt fixed it yet because I'm lazy. Again, this is just my idea and I wish you good luck.

there is an adjuster in that black box, look it up in your service book, its called the P-N-P adjustment. there is a little ring that turns to set the switch in the right spot after replacement.
