Tranny, clutch or engine issue?
Monday, November 24, 2008 9:06 AM
After driving my friends 5 speed 2200, there is def something going array in mine.

When starting off the line, I'll go past 2000rpms before I even hit 15mph.
But after that, it seems to even out and feels like I get power per the RPMS.

In my friends Sunfire I could get up to 20mph and only be at 2000-2500 rpms.

Also, if you let the rpms drop down a bit in gear/clutch engaged and then press the gas to speed up theres a faint rumbling/grinding sound and you can feel it in the pedals.
There is also a slight sound like my brakes are dragging if I'm driving and let the car run without giving it gas(IE going down hill in gear) PLUS the above sound.
(^ like when you jack up your car and spin your wheel around and the pads drag on the rotor, just louder)

if you give it a bit more gas then needed to start moving, it seems to take less RPMs to get up to speed, and there is no sound.
Also it seems to want to pull to the right at certain times.

try bleeding your breaks. just a little to make sure there isnt any air in there.
also how may miles/long have you had your clutch?

Its a 1998(had it in my profile lol)

I'll bleed the brakes today(its 1:40am right now).

The dealership supposedly put in a new clutch when the put in the new motor in October of 2007.
So about a year old.

Now for about 2 weeks my master cylinder went on the clutch and it was slipping between gears, not sure how much that would wear out the clutch.

I seem to wear out the outer edge of the right front tire rather quickly(1-2 months its almost bald)
