i have a 1996 cavalier z24 it has a 2000 grand am 2.4 liter in it is there any upgraded transmission.cause my transmission is grinding and popping outta gear
lets start simple manual or auto
probably a manual, it would be nice if people would put there cars in there profile too
if its a manual did they swap the 96 trans out and put a 00 trans in, in you have an 96 trans swap it out for the 00-02 2.4 trans do a search for whats needed

yeah its a 5 speed ...and thank you
Or if you just want to drive it and not worry about cutting and welding replace the Isuzu with another one. Im still not a fan of the newer Getrag.
isnt the getrag supposed to be better?
Did I mention I drive a 2000 Lumina now?-----wigm-tuners.org member
Supposed to be, but i dont believe that for one minute. The older Getrag is a nice piece of equipment though.
or if he could find one a nvg t550 no need to weld in mounts just mod a few things or buy the swap kit with the new mount and linkage extender but unless hes got or doing some motor work or beatin on it another isuzu would prob be the easyest/cheapest way to go.
NOT TO MENTION THE ISUZU'S GOT THE MOST AFTERMARKET SUPPORT AND A LOT CHEAPER
I CAN'T GET CLUTCHES FOR MY 01 WORTH A @!#$.
>.<
MITDR774, WHEN U SAID THE OLDER GETRAGS ARE NICE, WHICH YEARS WERE U REFERING TO?
Early 90's. 00+ Getrag is less than spectacular as far as my experience has been with them.
what kinda car does the nvg t550 come out of?
I want to say early 90's N bodies, possibly a few L bodies as well but am not 100% sure on that info though.
so i best bet would be to put back in the stock isuzu transmission?
i don't think so i think the getrag is the better bet and the nvg t550 is the best bet
as for you DAN C spec & bully make clutches for every level. so you r obviously not looking around hard enough
i'm running a Getrag with a spec stage 3 on my 3800supercharged and have no issues at all and accually its the same trans that raven is using and hes pushing 600hp or close to it.
so i wouldn't put an isuzu back in any of my cars there about as good as the 3spd autos

I put a new Isuzu in my 98 because I dont feel a Getrag would have been the better option. I have broken to many Getrags to think it a good swap. The Isuzu is a direct install and the Getrag requires modifications to the car.
it kinda all comes down to opinion and wat the purpose of the car is . if its just a daily driver with bolt on's or a few mods why not just put another isuzu back in its the easyest but also the most vulnerable.
The first one died at 82K and 2 people learned how to drive a stick on it plus I abused it for quite a while. I get an average of about 10K out of a Getrag.
I prefer the Isuzu for several reasons, most would not agree with me though.
