i have no idea what it is, and i didnt get to check yet, but it is clicking on decel and when the car is in nuetral until the car is completely stopped... axles? i know i had a leak in the boot on the passenger side... please someone help!
ohh yea, sorry guys, 99 cavalier z24, manual trans.. i believe it is a isuzu right?
thanks for the help!
If you just lightly press on the gas, to take the load off the gearing, does it go away?

yes!!! what could it be?!
Sounds like the synchro's are shot. Mine was doing the same thing a couple months ago.
it would make a clicking noise? i know my 3rd gear synchro is going, but i havent been hard on the tranny for a long time!
and it gets faster the faster i go, and doesnt slow down when i shift or anything... the only way it slows down is if i slow the car down. and there is no clicking sound when i am accelerating, just decelerating.
anyone help?
UPDATE!!
okay, i didnt fix the problem, but i just put the front end up on jackstands and went through all the gears. it still makes the clicking sound while on jackstands, but not nearly as loud. anyone think it could be my cv joints?
either that or a wheel bearing. Popping comes from the cv axles usually and when a wheel bearing is going out you hear more of a grinding noise that speeds up and slows down.

Spider gears in the transmission are wearing down. Hard telling how long they'll run for. The next sign that you'll start to get is at random while cruising it'll clunk and jerk the steering wheel. Either that, or you'll be going around a turn and it'll just start clunking and not moving very well. Typical death of an Isuzu when it's not being broken by too much power or straight up abuse.
Mine started doing the same thing you're describing after I did wayyyyyy too many burnouts with it.

thats just great!!! ha, i am 2 hours away from home... think i can make it? it's all interstate...
i once read that its always safer to pay the few hundred bucks for a tow instead of risk more damage by driving it. i once saw a guy decide to drive his STI home because he didnt want to pay the $350 tow bill. he ended up causeing over $2000 in damage and still had to pay the tow bill lol. i dunno what exaclty was wrong cause it was a few years ago but still...... thts a hard call.

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.

100% AGREE...I've personally seen this....it's your spiders. You will need a new diff or trans.

fixed it today... found a tranny for $250 at a local used car dealer... put it in, and it shifts like a dream!!! thanks for everyone's help!
MInes doing the same thing..... I was thinking it was the diff.... but I finally realized that my TOB is loose...... it's freaking weird that it goes away when I apply the throttle...... but after listening carefully.... I can tell that it's the same sound coming from my through out bearing when i'm sitting still.... just faster..... plus I pulled on my hydraulic line going to the TOB and it didnt go back.... so something is obviously loose or broken..... I guess I finally have to replace the tranny now.
Alright guys I hate to admit. But this sounds exactly like what my cars is doing. I had the tranny replaced with a 30,000 mile getrag about 20,000 miles ago and its been great until last night when I done a few burn outs,it started doing this horrible grinding when I am going but when I'm giving it the slightest amount of throttle it goes away. Is it indeed my diff or could it be the tob?

mine doing it to, so the big question is, is it tob or spider's.........anyone else solve there probs yet
It's usually the spider gears that give out, wheel hop is a bitch.
Some carnage...

If you think that is bad, I will have to post a pic of mine. It is 10 times worse. Maybe I will get a chance later tonight or tomorrow.
That wasn't even what failed in the tranny, the output shaft bearing blew up and shreaded the ring gear, it locked the wheels at 30mph, haha

If you see something like this, you know it's bad:
Apparently, the teeth don't break off. They mush. Haha.
Aaaaaand that's why I'm switching to the Storm diff that has machined spider gears, instead of cast spider gears.
