Removing stock knob
Tuesday, March 24, 2009 11:44 PM
I was wondering if there was a way to remove the Stock F23 shift knob without ruining it

I am going to install a B&M shifter and would like to be able to reuse this knob someday

Thanks

Its easier if its hot out and the car has been in the sun all day. but all you have to do on the 00+ is just turn and pull and it will come off! They can be a bit stubborn sometimes

Maybe if i heat it a little with a heat gun without burning it ?

Then twist and pull?

i think it should work. i took mine off during a nice summer day, it almost 'slides' off, keep pulling while twisting a little bit here and there.
btw: just got a fidanza short shifter so i will be doing the same thing this coming week :-)

It's on there pretty good but like everyone else said just twist and pull. I managed to install my stock knob on my short shifter too. It just screwed right on! Good luck
