i have a 1997 chevy cavalier 2.4 with all the bolt ons and connecting rods, forged pistons, and cams. now my question is i just tunned my car with hp tuners do i have to re-tune after i install the shift plus???? will it affect it if i don't tunned it????
I would not do the shiftplus if you have HPT. You can tune the transmission with HPT, and be better than the shiftplus.
FU Tuning
personally... i feel you should use both. i like the idea of being able to turn off my trans performance quickly and just drive if i want to. but on the contrary.. theres TONS of extra stuff hpt can do over the shiftplus unit. for some reason ive never had luck with inputting settings and getting them to only function at the higher, more performance-oriented adjusted level under ONLY WOT...
but to answer your question if you need to re-tune it, no.

DO NOT USE BOTH.
I tuned an auto trans Jbody with a shift plus and with it on the trans would not shift.
Brad it takes quite a bit of datalogging to get the trans tuning down. You have to look at rpm vs speed and such. Just let me know when your ready for me to do yours
LOL mine works just fine even with the autotrans interceptor
