Disconnecting The Shifter Cables?

this is kinda tricky to explain so bear with me..

I got an '01 Z24 with a Fidanza short-throw.. my old car had an Ecotec in it with a slightly modified stock shifter (it was ground down to be a few inches shorter). well the guy that bought my old car is interested in my Fidanza and I want my old shifter back.. is there any way to disconnect the cables from the shifter and swap the whole entire bracket and shifter over? really, I'm not even familiar with doing the shifter itself, but I'm wanting the whole assembly anyway and I dont wanna have to run the cables with it...

if I lost anyone, I'll do my best to re-explain it

Yes, it's very easy.

Take the centre console out. Undo the 5 13mm bolts that hold the shifter assembly to the floor. Unsnap the two plastic fittings at the front of the shifter assembly that hold the cables.

Easy as pie.

but wont the cables still be attached to the shifter? I want the WHOLE thing, not just the bracket

sorry if I confused anyone there.. or if I'm confused myself
