Well people seem to still have alot of problems with installing the ShiftPlus.... why i don't know so i went outside and i took pictures, the directions are below and pictures, u don't really even need the install directions if u look at the pictures, also if u can 't install it after this post then u really need to take your car to a professional, also the connectors used below did not come with the shift kit, these are called tap splices, which i got from home depot. so u now have everything lets hope its all u need.
TO INSTALL SHIFT KIT #70380 AT TRANNY... 2 MINUTE INSTALL: this install was done on a 98 2.2l 4 speed auto, this connector is found in the front of the transmission to the left of the battery, and to the right of the header, it is gray and circular, it is about 6 inches down from the red tranny vent plug, thats says trans, it is 2 inches in diameter, the wires u are connecting is the black wire to the lt blue with white stripe, now the other red wire you want to install to is the red wire with black stripe this wire is directly underneath the light blue one, not the one to the right of it, which is another red with black stripe wire, which has a dark blue wire underneath, look at the connector with the white arrow at 180 degrees, any problems let me know, i get no engine lights, and my ets off light doesn't come on like some people have had problems with stage II.

now go back and cut those connectors out get some heat shrink tubing a soldering iron and do it right. Exposure to moisture is a problem in your future.
OH so now you do it this way :p I guess I wasnt the only retard hooking it up wrong... I still feel like a tard though :p
Thank you so much! I was looking for this post for a while. I've got the Shift Plus as well and I used the connectors that came with the kit and put in the same exact spot you did, with no luck. I guess I didn't make contact well enough. I even went out and bought the connectors from Home Depot! Hopefully tonight I can get it put in.
I have a question for you now: where did you mount your switch inside? Did you use the factory velcro that came with it or something else?
Thanks!

This forum rocks....this is beautiful....detailed instructions with photos...i've had my shiftplus for more than 3 months now and everytime i try to get some help from my friends they're like "well it looks a little complicated....maybe someother time".
The performance forum helps you by redirecting you to Search so why bother to ask?.
Well now I feel like i"ve grown a pair and I'm gonna do this mod alone this sat.
How much is a good used eco trans anyway?

NOTE: Do not use the connectors that come with it. They dont work. I tried it and had to start all over again with different ones, the other ones didnt even break through the plastic. Anyway, it works great on my '04. Thanx, LittleBill
yeah i used the heat shrink style but connectors i got when i worked for chevy as a tech

I want to get one of these for my automatic 2002 ecotec but I can't find out where to buy one. Got any sites/stores I could use? Do you know if this will void my factory warranty?
You can get it from Summitracing.com. About the warrenty, reallistically if you want the warrenty dont mod your car. GM will do anything they can to get out of the warrenty with any mod you do. My dad had a friend that put a bug deflector on his Silverado and 6 months later one of his side mirrors started shaking and was really loose, then when he took it into the shop for warrenty work they told him that they wouldnt warrent his car cuz the bug deflector changed the aerodynamics of the car. Technically this would probably just void the warrenty on the tranny but who knows what they'd say or do if anything else drivetrain related happened So you run the risk by doing any mod.
its been documented that shift kits increase life of the clutch bands, someone on here has 40,000+ and had the tranny inspected and they said it looked great, and he allways left the shiftplus on, i have over 15,000 mine and i miss it every time i turn it off for my mother, she thinks my tranny is breaking when i leave it on

As far as warranty goes, they have to prove that whatever mod you did directly caused the malfunction. For instance, say you install an aftermarket muffler, it backs up and causes your engine to heat up and fry something. They have to prove that your mod caused it, otherwise, they'll cover it. Look it up on SEMA.
