Cold Auto trans Issues

Did a search to no end, hard to word this problem in a search engine.

GF has a 2001 Sunfire 2.2 with the 4 speed auto trans. The car wont move until it is mostly warmed up. It did this last winter and a bottle of TransX fixed it right up. I havent done a filter change yet, but wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Could it be a machanical defect that warrants shopping for a new trans? Im not all that familiar with auto tranny.

This is due to torque converter drain back, you have several internal seals leaking inside the transmission, it wont move until the torrque convertor is filled back up

Different engine and tranny here, but why is it on the ecos the 4 speed auto is reluctant to go into 4th gear until the engine is almost at 195 normal operating temp.

Because 4th gear is overdrive basically, and the TCC is at full lockup, the PCM wont let the TCC lock up fully until the vehicle is in closed loop mode
