Clutch Help
Tuesday, January 19, 2010 2:42 PM
Ive been looking for an aftermarket clutch for my 2.2L L61 for my 2005 Pontiac Sunfire engine, and I was under the assumption that all the the F23 trannys had the same clutch. After looking on some websites (Centerforce, Spec, Exedy), it seems as if there are different part numbers between the delta platform (cobalt/pursuit/etc) and the j-body (sunfire/cavalier/etc).

My question is:
Which clutches from other vehicles will work with my engine, as I cant find any on ebay/kijiji for my car. There are lots of cobalt ones, but I dont want to buy one if its not going to work. I know I can always buy it new from any company online, but I want to see if they are any cheaper on ebay/kijiji.

Thanks in advance guys

Matt, I know the F35's wont work, but what about the F23's that are in the base model 2.2L cobalts? (ie. LT, LS)

why would you want a clutch from another car that's not going to fit in your car?

this is from what i have heard the F35 share very few parts with the F23. as for the base modle cobalts the cluthc appears like it could be the same except the spec PN has a -2 the nubers are the same except the -2 par the cavalier doesn't have it but hte cobalt does so what does the kit have that the j bodys wont use or vise versa probably have to contact them direct but a 2.2 cobalt may work i was under the impression all cobalts were F35s

Cheap eBay parts are not a good choice for the clutch.
