I have a 94' Cavalier 2.2 5 speed that is raced on a 1/4 mile asphalt track. I have heard a few individuals at my track have welded their different ials up. My car will spin in the corner and occassionaly will wheel hop on the straight. Every thing I have read says that i should not weld it up. Some of the other front running drivers say that they have done this. I need some advice on how to fix this issue. I would prefer not to weld this but it is costing me lap time . I really dont know my next move on this so any advice would help, Thanks
i dont know much about circle track racing but welding the spiders is gonna make it harder to turn but pull beter. ur 94 has a mk7 tranny, it can b weak. i had the same car and i blew a hole in the case with out much abuse. a lsd would prob b ideal but $$. u could always weld it and if it blows swap out a nvg 282 from a 92-94 z24 will bolt right in and be stronger gears may be wrong for the 2.2 tho.
Thats gonna pull to the outside like a mofo with a welded diff.
