Noise from trans area

I just ut in a used trans with 50xxx miles because the spider gears in my other one shot craps. My mechanic and i ut it in tonight and it all went really smooth. We go to start it up and pull out of the garage and when we are driving down the steeet he lets off the gas and decelerates we hear a clicking noise. It almost sounds like when you put a card in the spokes of a bicycle only not as loud. It only happens when when decelerating and it happens in every gear including neutral. the inner cv axles are the only thing he can think of because the place i got the trans from online says that they inspect and test every trans and engine before they ship them out. I imagine that this would be something that would be caught in a test. What do you guys think could be the problem? I am at a loss. This isn't the same symptom like when the spider gears went out on my other trans and i was geting the jerking around corners. It runs perfecty smooth just the noise is the only symptom. It's a stock 99 sunfire gt with a manual 5spd.

also it doesn't do it when in reverse. If i go 10mps in reverse and push in the clutch it doesn't make the noise. It only makes it when going forward in any gear whether the clutch is pushed in or not.

Not to discourage you, but my transmission did the same exact thing. Ended up being the spiders. New trans now, and everything is great.

Usually the axles will not make a noise like you described.

Forgot to add, did you even open up the case before installing it? Did the spiders appear to be good?

Mine makes the noise but it is when you go in reverse and engage the clutch while still rolling. Pretty much what yours doesn't do but I am pretty sure it is in the gear cluster in the trans.

Sorry about your luck.
