4T40e Fluid Flow Direction

Hi,

Does anyone know which of the 4T40e transmission connections to the transmission cooler is the fluid output to the cooler and which is the input back into the transmission?
I need to find this out in order to fit an auxillary pump to enable high speed long distance towing as although this transmission can be towed in stock form due to the tire diameter of the car this unit is in compared to the original car it was fitted in it would restrict me to 40mph and 30 miles.

Thanks,
Mike

One easy way would be to disconnect both lines and turn the car on for one second, see which one spits out fluid

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking about that method also although the tranny isn't currently in the car so can't do that at the moment.
Have been doing further investigation and it looks like the method of feeding into the cooler lines won't work anyway since they only take already heated fluid, cool it and return it to the sump pan. It appears that I need to feed the electronic pump pressurised fluid in through the pressure testing outlet below the cooler lines to ensure the fluid gets pumped to the correct areas.

Thanks,
Mike
