Hard shifts; need advice; Thanks in advance

I have a 1989 Chevy Z24 ; it threw timing chain & warped valves at 341,000 ; waited 17 months & finally got a deal in another 2.8 V6 with the auto transmission ; has sit for 2+ years ; just got running & everything is Strong / engine & tranny ; 1 Major problem ; I refuses to change from 1st to 2nd before 35mph & 2nd to 3rd at 56 to 57 mph ; can anyone give me any suggestions ; I think electrical ; but I have no schematics to compare between the 1989 it was put in & the engine & tranny out of the'87'!
Any and all help would be appreciated ; I have about spent out on this engine & labor the guy charged to change out ; When I confronted him with the problem ; he said ; I did what you asked ; change out engine & transmission & got running / He said I DO NOT work on automatics ; manuals only ; I already checked! & he does have the tv (detent)cable connected ; ran 360 miles with Lucas & Seafoam & still extremely high rpm before shift ; after warms up you can shift manually & will shift around 10 mph earlier ; that leads me to think something different in electric !

The "87" engine & transmission only have 28,867 miles on them ; I would really appreciate the help before I ruin a perfectly good combo; Thanks!

Sounds like the TV valve is sticking inside the valve body.

I had a transmission do this once. It would either stick wide open, or it would drag and not let me have a passing gear. And sometimes it bad the gas pedal hard to push.

i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
