Getrag F23 in 05 J, equal length axles???
Sunday, March 28, 2010 11:43 AM
Basically, I am asking if there are any options, or if anyone has ever installed equal length axles in an F23/Eco car???For example, using a solid mounted intermediate shaft that bolts to the side of the block, and using the same axle on both drivers and passengers side of the car. The reason being, I want to eliminate any possibility of torque steer on my Sunfire.

dont think that it would help much. you'd still be spinning what amounted to a longer shaft on one side. you'd have to have the diff mounted in the center to make any difference.

LSD would be more effective.

The Ecotec block has provision for the jackshaft mount used in the Cobalt. You could try modifying that jackshaft to use with the F23 Getrag. It would be a lot easier though to install a Quaife LSD, because even if you use equal length axles, the differential in the transmission is still an "OPEN" type unit, meaning only 1 wheel is actually getting power.
