I was wondering about the strenth of the Quad 4 HO getrag transmission. I hear they are better than the later isuzu becuase the diff has machined spider gears instead of cast. Is there anything else that makes it better? Has anyone broken a getrag from power production? at what point does that occur? what about launching with a LSD insert and full on slicks? moderate clutch dumps? ballz out dumps? what will it take repeatedly? etc, etc. Just looking for general opinions on this unit. thanks

Given the complete lack of availability in good condition and any replacement parts being few and far between that trans would likely be a bad choice. Anything is possible, but parts will likely be hell to get. I can't answer any of your more specific questions, but there are some high power setups on here running this trans. However there are alot more setups with even more power running the F23 which is more abundant and easier to acquire in great condition for relatively cheap.
There is strong following amongst all flavors of options, all willing to say one is better than all others. I would consider myself biased to the F23 but this isn't without having driven all 3 flavors. The factors I blame my bias on is availability and it's relative strength associated with it. It's not the best of the bunch, but can be found in good condition relatively cheap and has all the comparable aftermarket support as any of the rest of the bunch to help beef it up a little bit.

so would it be true to say that any car originally equipt with an Isuzu could be swapped to a F23? Or is there more to it than that?

You can swap the F23 into cars with the 2.2/2200 or the 2.3/2.4 motor. You just need the correct bellhousing, transmission mounts, and shift cables/shifter.

Yes, but not without some mount and shifter cable work. I'm primarily speaking for the J platform, not exactly sure on others, but I'd imagine it would be very similar on all platforms.
