Well, i'm new, and will admit firsthand I know very little about Cavaliers. I drive a 2001 Cavalier w/ 2.2 and an Automatic(3T40?). Today on the way home, the CEL came on. I headed over to Auto Zone and had them read the code which was P1870, Transmission Slippage. I searched here and found this
thread , which details exactly what is happening to my car right now. About a month ago the car started having that "shudder" at around 40-45. It seemed to me like the Transmission was trying to shift to the next gear, and downshift at the same time. It only happens around 40-45 MPH. My car even has the same mileage as Tim's car did. I see that this is a common problem, and was wondering if anybody knows a correct way to go about fixing it? The car has been running great, and has never thrown the CEL in the 7 years i've owned it. I was surprised that it is just now throwing the code when it's been doing this for the last month. Any help is greatly appreciated!
