alright, im swapping a getrag into my sunfire to replace the worn out isuzu trans, and this is probly a stupid question, but will my axels i have now work with the getrag? if not i have to go searching for the longer axel
check if a 98 and a 01 have the same part numbers at the parts store. im sure someone knows tho
As far as I know, 95-05 axles are the same for all manual transmissions, so yes they will work.
I do believe however that the 2.2 OHV engines had smaller CV joints (or whatever the proper name is).
that helps a bit, but would still like to know for sure
Looking @ Rockauto.com they have this listed:
2000-2005 = CARDONE SELECT Part # 661219 5spd left & CARDONE SELECT Part # 661339 5spd right.
1995-1999 = CARDONE SELECT Part # 661219 5spd left & CARDONE SELECT Part # 661218 5spd right.
So as far as a parts source it seems the Left CV Shaft is the same, but something is different for the Right one..
Also looked @ DiscountAutoParts.com for a second set of info.
They list the Cardone Select as being a 1995-2002 item for the Left & only up to 99 for the Right.
The Cardone website itself lists Item # 66-1219 as being good for 95-05 & truly does list the #66-1218 as 95-99 but sadly does not give any specs as to why this is... So maybe something with the design of the Getrag vs. Isuzu on the Right side might have changed something. Sadly the only info my Haynes manual has on the subject, is info about the CV Joint Boot length being different from certain years >.< Hope this info helps you out some.
