Hey I got a 99 z24 manual trans..smoked motor 2yrs ago.I finally found a 2001 z24 5 speed with Only 39k miles on it.will this wrk with no issues or will I need to take PCM outa the 01?also while I'm writing,will I run into n e issues with the motor?ahead of time, thanks.I've been staring at a boat anchor for a long time and will hopefully b towing the donor car this wkend.....guess I shod specify that I want to swap both motor and trans outa the 01 into my 99..thanks again.
The 99 has an Isuzu transmission and the 01 has the getrag. Look a couple posts below this one and you will find the thread on the Isuzu to getrag swap. It's not too bad, i did it with my 99. There is cutting and welding involved so its not for everyone to do themselves. Also doubt you would find a transmission shop to do it either.

rite on!!!!!thanks man!got a welder etc so....ok..so i shldnt have wiring issues?and shld i jst use the shift linkage from the 01?am i gona have to use the 01 shifter 2?i may or may not have stated this b4 but i have the b and m short shifter and wld hate to lose it......i really appreciate any heads up man....good pics...good info...CANT SAY THANK YOU ENUF!!!!!
Also....i see u swapped the ecotec...but was curious,will the motor mounts line uo etc the same?its still a 2.4...jst from the 01....any preferences on motor mounts?im gona follow ur lead for the tranny mounts?how u feel anout rksports stuff??ive got alot of body peices etc and got my b and m frm them but i havent goten any "mechanical parts....thanks again
I personally didnt do the eco swap, that was the other guy.
There is a slight laundry list to do this swap:
00+ Getrag trans
00+ 2.4 flywheel
00+ 2.4 clutch and pressure plate
00+ Master cylinder
00+ slave cylinder
00+ shifter assembly
00+ shift cables
00+ getrag axles
new trans mounts that go on the frame rail, wether you cut them off a donor car, buy them or make them
00+ Getrag mounts
The VSS wire will need a different plug on it, go to the yard and cut a coolant temp sensor plug off and wire it up.
Reverse light switch will need the plug changed. Not sure what to use, havent changed mine.
The brake lines will need to be bent to clear the frame rail mount locations.
