So i ordered my top mount and tranny mount for my 97 sunfire, i know the top mount is pretty simple but not to sure about the transmission mount..does anybody have suggestions or advice that would be helpful..
Btw if u have done this before and could give me a detailed step by step that would be great
Use a block of wood on a jack to suppport the engine at the oil pan. It would be best to source an engine hoist to prevent damage to the pan.
The upper mount is easy but I would recommend using locktite on the bolts that hold the rubber mount in place. The first time I did mine they managed to eventually come out and the motor was rocking all over the place.
The tranny mount kicked my ass! The expansion bolt heard sheared off and I had to drill it out and cut it to pieces to get it out. I can't tell you how many hours I spent squatting in the wheel well and how many drill bits I went through. I was beat down after that repair!! I would strongly suggest not undertaking it unless you are 100% positive it is needs to be replaced. On these cars it's usually the upper mount and lower "dogbone" mount that go bad.

Are you doing oem replacement or prothatne/ttr poly mount?
They arent bad the change depending on your access to tools. An arbor press makes the job much easier, I personally did my ttr poly mounts with my vise.

Most do use a vise
