i read on the GM eSI tech that the 5 speed manual gearbox Getrag F23 need to be run with ATF fluid like the dexron 3. So im wrong to run with GM Synchromesh??
You know, it's funny, I was just thinking the same thing because I'm trying to tackle the rattling problem with the Getrag F23 as well.
Here what i got from eSI for a Getrag F23:

The Getrag 5 Speed manual transmission has the following features:
First and second gear double coned synchronizer
Third, fourth, and fifth gear single coned synchronizer
Reverse synchronized
Three shaft design consisting of an input shaft, output shaft, and intermediate shaft
Reverse inhibit feature
One piece clutch actuator - no bleed screw
Transmission venting system is part of the fill cap
First gear ratio is 3.58
Second gear ratio is 2.02
Third gear ratio is 1.35
Fourth gear ratio is 0.98
Fifth gear ratio is 0.69
Reverse gear ratio is 3.31
Final drive ratio is 3.94
Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
The manual transmission shift cables must be adjusted for proper shifter performance.
I use B&M Trickshift synthetic
DEXRON III is like the thinnest fluid you can get from what I've read. I've heard that using a bit of a thicker fluid will increase shifting effort slightly, but feel more solid and smooth.. That, to me, sounds awesome. I've heard nothing but good things about GM Synchromesh, but still, it's a transmission.. I really don't feel like blowing it up so i'd like to check before using it hahah.

Our cars do have a bleed screw....
