Ive done a search and i cant really find the answers im looking for..Im having a problem with the clutch in my 04 cavalier losing pressure when the car is running. If i take my foot off the clutch while its running i lose pressure. If i shut the car off i can pump the clutch and i can gain the pressure back..to make my car drivable, i have to keep my foot on the clutch the whole time but just barely pushed down right before it engages. I have replaced both the master and slave cylinders as well as clutch disc and pressure plate and still didnt fix the problem. Weather the car is on or off, if i push the clutch down slowly, it starts seaking at the tranny. I also noticed my clutch fluid is always dirty, its been drained and refilled and it will just get dirty again. The new pieces i bought came with fluid in the lines prebled already and it turned dirty as well..Im out of ideas so any would be appreciated.
you dont have any fluid leaking from the reservior do you? I recently had my clutch/flywheel all replaced, and the idiot mechanic bought a brand new master cylinder, but used my old reservior and hose. You cant do that.
You have to buy the master cylinder WITH the hose and reservior attached, they are a one-time fitment from the factory.
Mine ended up getting air in the line, and would cause the throwout bearing to blow.
I know yours is still working, just not right, but pressure issues would tell me there isnt enough pressure from the fluid in the line.

No fluid leaks from what i can see..the reservior level never goes down. The new master cylinder had the resivor attached with the fluid already in it.
Your losing pressure some where.

its just a sweak that you can hear coming from the tranny when you push the clutch down slowly. and no fluid leaks from the line at all..the fluid just turns black
might need to bleed the clutch fluid (any DOT 3/DOT4 fluid works, like brake fluid).
This will get all impurities and air out of the line if there is any. You fluid should be nearly clear. Mine used to be black with lots of crap in it, before i just recently replaced ALL of my clutch components ($2000 worth!).
Squeaking sounds are mechanical, not pressure problems typically. I know my clutch 'rattles' when its engaged (foot not on the clutch), but its not squeaky. Im a second vote on air in the line. Bleed it, refill it, and see if it keeps going. Fluid is cheap and bleeding isnt too bad of a job. Im sure theres a how-to here or on Clubcav

Ive bled it and refilled it several times..ive went through two bottles of brake fluid doing so. i did put a new clutch and pressure plate on. is it possible that could be causing the problem if it wasnt put on correctly?
if your not loosing any fluid, i'm going to say the sound is improper clutch/pressure plate alignment, my 98 is doing it as well, but im not worried about it, the fluid turning black says throwout bearing issue to me, the clutch system only has about 5 components to it that fluid actually flow through.....a holding tank, 2 cylinders, the thow out bearing, and a spot for the bleeder valve, and really thats it, so one of those components must have some mechanical problem to it. go back over it all.... thats about all i can think of hope it helps
