I have an 01 2.2 auto that went out and i got a 05 trany and didn't know if i will run into any problems? and is there anywhere i can find a shift kit for it?
no eco's mate with ecos only. Bolt pattern is completely different, plus im pretty sure the ecos are computer controlled and the 01 is not
both trans are controlled and operated the exact same the only difference is the bellhousing you could swap them but for the cost of doin that you can find the right tranny for it
JBO since July 30, 2001
why would it cost more? it shouldn't cost anything if i have them side by side and swap it?
You would have to open both transmissions and swap the guts. The 05 transmission will not bolt to a non eco Engine. I believe he meant to buy an adapter. It would be much easier to sell your 05 trans and buy a 01.

This depends on which tranny the 01 has. 2 options 3speed (manually controlled), and a 4 speed (electronic, like a Eco).
2.2/2200/LN2's did get 4 speed auto's, but rare to a degree.
FU Tuning
I have a spare LN2 4T40E in my moms garage.
I was told it was a LD9 4T40E, but it wasn't. My current trans is a half a ecotec and half a twin cam trans. Eco trans guts in twin cam case.
