Hey guys, I posted something in the maintenance forum, but figured I'd get a better answer here on the part of my question related to the transmission. I pulled the old engine/transmission from the car (trashed a rod bearing) and mated my head with an ebay block. Mated the "new" engine to the old transmission (5-speed manual F23)which was working flawlessly before I pulled it out. I got it all back in and attached the shifter cables, but now it won't shift. I did mess with the linkages on the transmission (shifted them by hand while I was bored) while it was off of the engine so they were probably in a weird position when I put it back in the car. Now even with the shifter cables detached, I can only shift the transmission into 2 different gears by hand. It's like the linkages on the tranny itself are stuck on something. Anybody have any ideas on how to go about fixing it? I thought I read somewhere on here that somebody's transmission would get "out of whack" and they would just have to remove the shift linkages from the transmission and reset them manually or something. Sound possible? I already undid the clips at the shifter in the car and tried recentering everything, but it's not doing anything since the linkages on the tranny are stuck. I can't imagine I trashed the tranny that easily. Any advice would be much appreciated! I can take pics or explain more if something's not clear.

stuck in more than 1 gear?
From what I can tell it will shift between neutral and some other gear and that's it. seems like neutral because I can spin the wheels easily by hand with it in that position and then it's a lot harder when I shift it into the other position.

Fixed. Started the car up, put it in the one gear it would go into and let out the clutch. Once the transmission got spinning, everything started working like it's supposed to. Now just have to flush the coolant, attach the lower motor mount, and some of the various plastic pieces and I think she's good to go...at least I hope.
