I'm looking at buying a 17 inch package from wheelbargain.com. The rim brand is NR. and the model is 228. I can choose from several different tires, one of which is nankang. the others are wanali, wynstar, general and the most expensive dunlop. Which should a go with?

Anything but Nankang
but ask them if they have the Hankook Ventus 2s, they are are really good economy tire and most of the big discounters carry them.
No hankook for this particular package. do nankangs wear out fast/

Yea from what I hear...it's about the cheapest brand out there..
Nitto - is what I went with for my 19's....

One of my friends had a set of Nankang tires he got from Discount Tire. I am not sure on the model. He called them Nankang "Maypops", since he replaced 3 out of 4 due to them being junk. He was not an aggressive driver by any means.
If you plan to drive the crap out of the first set, just pick one of the cheaper ones
If it was me choosing, I would spend the extra $25-33 per tire for the Dunlops.
