i had some damage done to my rims over the winter (a guy at tire discounters said it was ok if i left them on..well, i did, and the salt put divets in the rims, so i took them back and got them replaced). before i left that day, they asked if i ever use tire shine style stuff on my tires, and is said i had before, and they said not to because it can run onto the wheel and ruin the clear coat/finish on it. and then they said when i first got the rims to never use any kind of tire cleaner off the shelf, just use soap and warm water to clean them.
now is that all you guys do or do u use a product from pepboys/autozone or what? will it really mess them up? if so, then why would they make something thats going to mess up the rim? please let me know what you use on your tires and what you use to clean your rims....and if u've ever heard n e thing about not using n e of these products on your car. thanks

I use windex to clean my chrome rims. I also use regular car wash soap to wash the tires and rims. I also use mother rim chrome polish after every wash it helps keep the clear coat on the rims really nice. As for the tires I use a brush from anywhere and I do use Black Magic. The key is to make sure you polish the rims before you add any tire shine or junk like that. Because its true that stuff can mess up your clear coat on your rims!
