I recently got some used rims and place them on yesturday but apparently not sure if it's tar or gunk or just the rim chipping ?
Is there anything I can use to remove the tar or gunk off from the rims itself and if so what would everybody recommend to use to clean and polish these rims ? btw they are silver or hyper silver color so hopefully nothing too harsh on them.

I would try Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash,hand mit , wheel cleaning brush, and some elbo grease first. Then If that doesn't help try some wheel cleaning solvent's. I had some Sacchi wheel's that were Hyper Silver finish and they alway's cleaned up fairly easy.
