Wheels peeling!!! Help!!!
Thursday, September 15, 2005 2:46 PM
So my wheels started peeling, and I'm not sure why. They are Enkei RS-Evolutions. The spokes are a brushed aluminum, and the lip and inner walls are polished. The polish is what's coming off in a few places. Is there anything that can be done to repair this? If not, does anyone know about how much it would cost to have them powdercoated glossy black? They are 17's, btw.

Here is a pic of what the wheels look like....

You can send them in from a local tire shop in town and they can get them fixed. I have seen some pretty messed up rims go in and they got redone and looked great. Depending on the damage it can range from $90 to 200. But they can be fixed, if a rim that has chunks out of it can be yours can I know my husbands got curbed checked and it was pretty bad and we paid 153 to fix it and it looked brand new Good luck

Thanks Ashley, I didn't even know they could be repaired. I wonder which would be cheaper, the powdercoating, or repairing them.

Well depending on the extent of the damage, I would say that powder coating would be if the wheels are peeling bad.

what do you use to clean the wheel? i stay away from any chemical products and just use water and soap. if its just peeling, you can probably have them re-cleared

How old are the wheels? Under warranty maybe?

yea, if they are still under warrenty you cant get them replaced for free. The polished lip shouldnt do that, if they are new its a manufacturer defect.
