I have a 98 cavalier and am going to put 19s on it but was wondering if i will be able to lower it or if i should just keep it at stock height and if so if it will look alright or not.
your over all tire diameter really shouldnt change the only thing that is changing is your replace rubber sidewall for more wheel and less tire....i know that this works for smaller rims but it should work for 19s
one guy said that i would have to cut my fenders if i got 19s. My 17s are 17x7 and the 19s i want are 19x7.5. This is a big decision because i dont want to have to cut my fenders and if i have to i will just get 18s and lower my car a couple inches like one of my friends did before he got air ride.
19x7.5 should be no problem. what offset are they? theres several people runnin' 19s and have air so its very possible.
they are 19x7.5 and i took my air off. I am on stock right now thats why i didnt think putting 19s on if they were 7.5 or lower would hurt anything. Im wondering if i should go 19s or just go 18s and lower it a couple inches. Theres a few different wheels im looking at. I want either silver or chrome. Im not sure yet.
you can do 19's fine and still lower it
You can still lower it. I put 19's on my 99 sunfire.....the only thing is if you lower it, you might have to take out all that plastic in your wheel well....i had it lowered and everytime i hit a bump, the tire would rub on the plastic and over time there was none left...but i just put coilovers on my car last week and the fender is sittin 1/2 inch from the tire...not too safe b/c my rims are 19x8....but it all...you can lower it..just look at your clearance to determine how low you can go.

Im on 225-35-19s lowered 2.5 with Ground Controls. I rub on the inside of the wheelwell when I turn all the way to one side, well I used to, I had to run wheelspacers with my widebody so i wont rub anymore. Also eliminated my wheelwell lips so wont have to worry about those anymore either.
