i have a set of motegi FF7's and the clear is coming off of the polished lip. i want to know is there any way i can take the clear completely off the lip and then sand the wheel and paint it another color while leaving the polished lip and tehn clear the entire wheel. if so what do you suggest i use to remove the clear and to rough the paint?
why not just mask off the polished lip, sand the whole rim down, then paint. remove the tape and clear? personally i would get it professional done but thats just me
The lip needs recleared beacuase the clear is coming off. i wanted to know how to take the rest of the clear off it without hurting it, i dont know if i can just sand it or what?
if you honestly dont know what your doing i would send the rims out and get them re-finished. im pretty sure you can lightly sand the rim to remove the clear and then just paint. probably wet sanding the rim would be best
yes you can, i refurbish wheels everyday at my job. If you dont have a right angle die grinder wtih a twist lock sanding disk.....invest in one, since i have worked at Wheelworks, that has become my favorite air tool, they are great. But just start off wtih a 220 sanding disk, sand all of the clear off, and the painted part or whatever it is, sand all of that off, then take a steel wool pad, im not usre if that is waht they call it, make it all extremely smooth, then wet sand it to make it even smoother, then get it cleared and painted. This isnt too detailed, but, you get the jist of it, it isnt that difficult.
