The past 20 months I've been driving with kuhmo 711's 215/50/17. In less then 2 years, my tread is down to the indicators, keep in mind I did have one 100 foot lock up skid and several tiny burnouts but nothing other then that since I have an auto. How long can I expect my new falken 512s to last if I take it a little easier on them?
Find out the treat wear. of the tire. It all depending how you drive. If you take it easy (MAYBE) alittle past your last tires. Just keeps up with the rotations and balancing.

Performance tires usually don't come with a tread rating. The down side to good sticky tires is they don't have the tread life of other "regular tires", But I guess you have to take the good with the bad. On a side note I have the Falkens, and you wont be dissapointed with them. However I suggest you go with a 215/45/17 tire. You will have a little less side wall, and it will have better handling response.
Actually buddy all tires come with tread wear rating, wether it be Michelin Pilot Sport, Pirreli P-Zeros (what i have) down to your basics such as Barum bravus. They all have a tread wear rating.

I'm sorry I was under the assumption that they didn't have the ratings for some tires.
512's will not last long. All dot tires have a treadwear rating.

^^ I was under the impression that if I had 215/50/17 tires on my rims now, I will need to get the same size so that they would fit, sorry if its a newbie question but will 45 fit the rims right, what exactly does that change?

Ohhhhh thats what it was. So like un aproved radials will not have a rating.
A 215/45/17 tire will have less sidewall, giving it a more sporty look, and improve the handling of the car.
^^ Oh i see, but since my car isn't lower yet, wouldnt 45s make the wheel gap larger then the 50s?
215/45/17
Sidewall Height: 3.80 in Speedometer Difference: 1.052% too fast
215/50/17
Sidewall Height: 4.23 in Speedometer Difference: 2.374% too slow
It will be a bigger gap, but 215/45/17 is the more proper size.
