Tire size questions...
Thursday, January 19, 2006 1:10 PM
I currently have a Santa Fe that I am selling. The winter tires on it are brand new though and I want to take them off and use them on the next vehicle I purchase. The tires are P225/70R16. When I check what size tire the SUV's I'm looking at take they say P215/70R16. Is it ok to use a P225 in place of a P215? Or will this not work?

yea it will be fine. the 215 is the width of the tire. using the 225 will only make the tire wider by 10mm. it should be fine

yeah that sort of change will make the speedo off like, .5% @ 60mph, which is considered totally accurate by any manufacturer.

it will work, but i dont recomend it on an all-wheel drive vehicle or if you have 4x4, dont use it when you have the 225's on it.

for a 2WD vehicle or a 4X4 thats selectable not all the time vehicle it will be ok.

if it is AWD or you use 4X4 you can damage the transfer case in the vehicle. 4WD and AWD systems are so percise that the slighjtest difference in height can damage your transmission. the thousands you will spend if that goes arent worth the couple hundered you will save with the snows.

so in short... 2WD or Selectable 4WD good, AWD or full time 4 bad.

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
