Hankook Ventus HR II H405 or Toyo Proxes FZ-4 ?
Tuesday, February 14, 2006 11:54 AM
Both are going to be 225/40-18 when i order my new set of wheels when they come off backorder at wheel max.

Hankook Ventus
Speed rating - H
Tread wear- 340

"The Ventus HR II H405 is an ultra-low profile radial with a wide footprint for aggressive handling on tight turns and better performance on wet roads. The stylish unidirectional grooves enhance steering stability, rapid drainage, and reduced rolling resistance."

Toyo Proxes
Speed rating- W
Tread wear- 300

"The ToyoŽ Proxes FZ4 all-season high performance radial meets the increasing demand for stylish, affordable, all-season performance radials for sports sedans and coupes. This W and Z speed-rated radial (depending on size) offers choices for plus sizing applications."

I am leaning towards the toyo's since i have the money to play with and there is only $32 difference in overall price between them. But if anyone has some experience with them, thats what i am looking for. Like one with less road noise.

...i have kumho ecsta supra 712's...beside the good reviews for the tire.....i got them becuase of there AGGRESSIVE parttern....that is its v shaped tread pattern...i hate to see a car with great rims etc ...and then it looks like its on granny tires that will go for 50,000 miles...just doenst make sense....plus you will be happy with a tire that performs better

plus the treadwear is good...(300) (mines 280- about 25,000mi)

so if you actually care haha i vote #2

I love my Hankooks, they grip like mad, and are fairly quiet

I had those on my 17"s which i just sold, and honestly i wasn't very happy with them. They had alot of road noise and gave me some problems. So thats why i want a higher grade tire. THe hankooks appear to high a really good tread wear, so i may go with those.

They don't make the Proxes fz-4 anymore, its just the Proxes 4. If they are still selling them, then they just have an overstock of them. Those Hankook's are junk and I wouldn't use them if they were free, Same goes for the Kumho 712's.

A little biased maybe? The hankooks are far from junk, I'm sure you have no experience with them whatsoever. I worked at BF Goodrich for co-op and love the company to death - and performance line of tires are incredible, but these Hankooks have just completely gone above my expectations, and I'll be going with Hankook for my next set of tires. Don't tell me Hankooks are junk.

They are junk, a few of my friends have them because it was a cheap tire to put on there new wheels. They have the same ones in the picture and they are terrible. I hate my stock Goodyear rsa's but those are much better than those Hankooks.

LOL! ^

I'm with Dave Dunsmoor, I liked mine. Stock RSA's better? That proved to me you're in no place to be giving tire reviews!

Why because I hate your tires and my opinion is that my rsa's are better? Hankook does make a few good tires, just not that model. I never said they were all bad, Laugh and disagree with me all you want.

Point being, I no longer have them. I disagree with you though, as I've had first-hand experience, when I rode on the RK coil/Koni setup I pushed them hard, and they took abuse/held amazingly well. They continued to impress others too, for being cheap package tires.

Maybe this is just a coincidence though....but others agree!?

i have had the stock rsa's and the hankook h405s. h405's are leaps and bounds over the rsa's.

Well i have sence decided to take a different route, so i won't even be getting any of these tires... i will be getting either Kelly EVO-Z or Kelly Charger HPT or BFGoodrich G-force sport's.... my Local Goodyear place helped me out with info and what not. I am looking at $877.58 all said and done after taxes for 5 tires..... ouch!

the hankooks are 91 per tire and the falken ziex's (which are comparable to the hankooks) are 95 from edgeracing. 800 is a rip off lol.

The tires are $150-170 a tire, mounting and balancing of the aftermarket 18"s there is an extra fee due to the size( $15), taxes and road hazzard. But i will prolly look elswheres and this is not a definate yet. and you have to remember i am getting this for 5 tires not 4. But i forgot one of my local Good JBO friends has a friend who works for Dunn tire near me, and i can get a good deal through them.

Sigmae Matrac TX (W)

UTQG
SERIES (Size) TREADWEAR TRACTION TEMP
ALL 360 A A

For all 5 tires mounted, balance, and warrenty was just about $700

I hope thats installed, its still a lot of money tho @ $175 a tire. I would shop around more, you could buy them online then take them somewhere for cheaper I bet.
