Stock RS wheels: Paint or powdercoat???
Monday, March 27, 2006 5:20 PM
Just looking for opinions. I'm considering having my stock wheels refinished either gunmetal grey or maybe having them refinished silver to look new again. I know the centercaps can't be powdercoated since they're plastic. Any thoughts? A friend can hook me up with his painter to get them done for around $150ish either way.

Yes plastic can be powdercoated. And if its the same price go with powdercoating because it will last alot longer then paint.

I thought powdercoat was magnetically or electronically charged? Highschool science told us that plastic isn't magnetic, nor is it conductive. But okay, it can be done. Any thoughts on how it'll look? I was thinking about the gunmetal color, but I'm not sure how it'll look on these wheels.

Here's the wheels I'm referring to:

yeah gunmetal or black would look pretty good. Yeah i know plastic cant conduct electricity but i know they can still do it. Dont know exactly how but they can .

One of those automotive mysteries, I guess. Thanks, Jeremy. I think I'll be getting it done some time this summer. For the price I can't pass it up.
